If you have any animals aside from dogs and cats, it can be difficult to find knowledgeable and reliable help to take care of your animals (and plants!) while you are away. Pancake Hollow Permaculture offers comprehensive farmsitting services in Ulster and Dutchess counties of New York.
When farmsitting, I don’t just drop in and out. If the temperature is expected to dip, I’ll check in about supplemental heating for young animals or covering crops. If you’re running out of feed, I’ll go pick some up. If I notice any odd behaviors, I will discuss them with you and decide on a course of action. I keep in frequent contact, send photos, and never leave you wondering about whether I’ll actually show up. Your animals are as important to you as mine are to me, and I care for yours the way I care for mine.
Services Available
- Care of household pets (experienced with dogs, cats, fish)
- Care of livestock (experienced with chickens, quail, guinea fowl, turkeys, pigs, cattle, horses)
- Care of household plants
- Care of outdoor garden/farm (watering as well as weeding, fertilizing, harvesting, etc. if needed)
- Care of home and property and any odd jobs as needed
Sorry, but I do not do overnight stays. For any other unlisted services, please reach out! I am excited and willing to learn how to take care of any animals I don’t have direct experience with or to take on any additional tasks unique to your property.
Rates
For all farmsitting services, I come out to your property ahead of time for a walkthrough with you. Unique to my services, my fiancé comes along on these walkthroughs, so you can rest assured that there will always be two people who know everything in case of an emergency.
Typically, my services include one to two daily visits, but more frequently and/or daytime visits are possible especially if you are close to Highland. I can do as little as a one-time visit if you’re just going for a night out to a multiple-week service.
Rates vary on visit frequency, length of service, number of animals, number of different types of animals, as well as additional tasks needed. Please reach out for a non-committal free quote and to discuss availability.
